Hi yall!
Proud owner of a new laptop, have installed my email settings into Mozilla Thunderbird without any problem. Can send and recieve without any difficulty, so all is well.
However, I would like to transfer from my old machine all my emails and contacts.
How do I do it. Both machines have Thunderbird, and both are XP.
TIA

Ok have downloaded Mozbackup onto original screen. Have done the back up, now how do I get the back up onto cd and onto my new machine?!?!
If I click on the program icon on the desktop screen and click send to cd it is going to copy the program, not the back up I have created, right?!?!?!
Help!!!

You are confused because you haven't read the documentation, which can be downloaded from here !
You basically need to find where you saved the Mozilla backup .pcv file and copy that across to your new machine.
Documentation is provided to show users how to use programs and prevent lots of users asking the same questions again and again!

To be fair, Mozbackup hasn't got a Help file and as it's third party, Thunderbird online help doesn't mention it.
1. Install Mozbackup on both machines
2. Compact folders in old Thunderbird from File >Compact folders. (the backup can be hundreds of MB if you're migrating thousands of email and newsgroups)
3. Open Mozbackup on old machine > Backup a profile (normally Default) and remember where you saved it.
4. Copy the created backup. .pcv file to CD or mem. stick/card.
5. Copy .pcv file from device to a folder on new computer.
6. Open Mozbackup on new computer > Restore a Profile
7. Browse to where you copied .pcv file. > Next0 -
