Some really good ideas!! Its a great idea to use packaging from meat and bought veg for seed trays, cheap and it must offset the carbon footprint a little too.Mum to 3 children, 5 hens, 6 chicks, 6 eggs due to hatch, 2 cats, 1 dog, 9 fish and a husband...:eek:0

You could always save your milk cartons and use either end to grow young plants in. I have threaded these on some bits of wood just to see how they will look. Put some pin holes in the cap for drainage.0 -
Hi all
I have to agree with the using every pot n tub that you would normally throw away..I have a heap f yoghurt, cottage cheese pots trays from carrots etc -I have just a fraction of my tubs out on the table at the moment and more loo roll tubes than I care to count
I use old pop bottles (next doors-mine get refunded) as mini green houses and then later I take the lids off and spike a cane through the neck and into the compost so you have somewhere to pour the water on bushy planted pots.
There are loads of ways of saving the pennies -Im sure you will come up with more as you go along:D-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Don't bother too much with the date stamp on some of these seeds...
I put some spouts in just over a week ago, they are almost an inch tall now.. The lable said they were two years out of date. Over 50% germination.
The cheapest seedsI have come across are Aldi's and Lidl's.
As for growing on the cheap. You can get a grow bag for under £1.50 and say, tomato seeds for under 50p. A watering can would be handy but not essential.
That's under £2 for tomato's all summer long, (£3.50 with a watering can.) And you don't need pots.
How cheap to you want to go????:rolleyes:To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0 -
Anyone still looking, Aldi have growbags for £1.17.Dor0

How about cutting the bottom off a milk carton, putting some holes in the lid and using that as a watering can?0
