Tax credits and studying???

I wonder if someone can help me ~ Im a single parent of a soon to be 12 year old and I've been given an offer to go and do a degree :j :j nursing

my plan is to keep working 16 hours < I work from home in the evenings>

anyway my question am I still able to claim child tax credits and working tax credits as a student? if so will my bursary be taken into account?

  • Hi there. I am also a single mother in my second yr of study in uni and work 16 hours for the WTC and CTC.

    You are entitled to both WTC and CTC and these will not affect any other funding you receive. You are also exempt from council tax if your on a full time course and will be entitled to a variety of grants and the student loan.

    It is hard to study when your a single mum but its well worth it in the end! I know thats how i will feel when I have a BA hons degree when ive done it all for my son
