                    Hi
I've been using the same games site for years but recently when I play after about 20 minutes or so I get a message that Internet Explorer has "encountered a problem and must shut down". I then get a msg saying that Flash10a.ocx was working at the time of the problem but that it was Windows that caused the problem. Then comes advice to check all updates are up to date - which they are.
Obviously I've been using Flash for yonks as well. I use Win XP. IE8 (I think, the latest one anyway..) and use automatic updating.
Does anyone know what the problem is and, more importantly, how to fix it? Its driving my nuts:mad:

You are not the only person having this problem; just take a look at the Adobe website here -

Some people are claiming that running the flash uninstaller for windows -
 http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe
and then downloading the latest version works-
 http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Others, running Vista claim that runing the included registration tool as an administrator has solved it for them -- Right-click C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil9d.exe
The letter changes with each Flash version, so may be "FlashUtilb.exe" or "FlashUtile.exe"
- Select "Run as Administrator"
- Follow the steps to complete the Flash Player installation
- Restart your computer

As your signature says, no answers just clues as to how to proceed. Let us all know how you get on.0
- Right-click C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil9d.exe

Hi, I had this problem recently and spent hours googling it, I tried all solutions ie removing flash using the special remover and re installing etc etc, I think I have finally got it working and I think I found the solution on the adobe forum. What I did was open "my computer" then open "C" drive (assuming that is the drive your operating system uses), then open the "windows" folder, then open the "System32" folder, then open the "macromed" folder, then open the "Flash" folder.
In here you will find 4 files, one of them is called "FlashUtil10a".
If you double click on this it reloads flash and since then (fingers crossed) for 2 weeks" I have not had this problem again.
Please let me know if it works for you.0

            Thanks for the replies guys.
I decided to try Huddsman's idea first, for simplicity, so shall now go and play and some games and see if its made a difference. If not, I'll try the Adobe route.
Glad to know I'm not alone with this but it seems odd that it would only just start acting up
Ah. the weird and wonderful world of computers.....
Keep you posted, thanks again.Stop looking for answers....
