What is the max amount HB will pay?

Options
A friend has a house that he owns and is thinking of renting it out to go live somewhere else. I have a relative who lives elswhere in Europe. Shes a UK citizen. She is getting divorced and may want to move back to the UK. She has one child. What is the max HB she might be able to claim?

Will there be any issues as she has lived outside the UK for a number of years?

It is LHA now. So different depending on area and number of people to be housed.

She will have to pass the habitual residence questions. Plus even should she be found to be entitled to any benefits here she needs to have sufficient money to last at least a couple of months, benefits take a while to sort out. Also to have enough for 1 months rent plus a bond or deposit. Often that is like paying 2 months rent upfront.

Will she be looking to work?

HB used to be paid in arrears, I expect LHA is the same.

Its unlikely she would be able to work as she is disabled due to having suffered a brain haemorrhage about 5 years ago and also has an infant to look after.
