I love pressure cookers, mine however died last year and I am yet to replace it. I am thinking about getting the Tefal Clipso, so if anyone has it I would be interested in your review.

mine was a godsend when the children were at home i used it all the time and it was really good at making cheaper cuts of meat tender in a shorter time also good for softening gooseberries for jam making

I have one but although I use it, I never use it properly with the weights. I tend to just use it as a big saucepan when I want to boil a chicken, although I don't do that very often now I can slow cook it instead.

I have 2, a 25 year-old Prestige and a 20 year-old Tower. Both are used at least once a week. Besides the PCs I only use one large saucepan for spag bol, 2 huge pasta pans, a tiny saucepan for boiled eggs, one large casserole dish and 2 large saute pans, for all my cooking. I do have others, but they just sit in the cupboard gathering dust!

I'm on my second ( the first died after 30 years nearly daily use) and I use it all the time. Ididn't know they were out of fashion. I am considering getting a slow cooker though, are they any good?

Ted Hutchinson is a big pressure cooker fan and I believe bottles with his. I'm sure he'll be along later to sing their praises :D

Mumand Dad always had them when I was a child, but I've never bought one. I have Slow cookers and wouldn't be without one. However, when mum and I were in town one day, I was examining a PC display and she came over and said "don't buy one, we have a really expensive, almost brand new one at home. You can have it." (mum can't handle the weight of them now)

I'd never really thought about it, but this week I've boiled pans of spuds and made soup so it would have been so much easier. Now - where to store it? In the understairs cupboard, near the slow cookers I think :D:D

Wouldnt be without mine. :D Keep looking for a new one but the cheaper ones are all a bit light weight. My tower is heaven knows how old!!!!
But until I need new bits think I will stick with it.
Any one blown the weight with stew in it!!!  Have never seen a pot of stew stretch so far. :rotfl: :rotfl:

very useful indeed - dried pulses usually take 15min or so (depending on variety) plus soaking.

I've just finished my tea, veg stew and dumplings. In case anyone wants inspiration the recipe went something like this (It was a combination of a couple of other recipes):

1 v large carrot, peeled and sliced
    1 large onion, diced,
    2 leeks chopped
    1 small celeriac, diced
    1 sweet potato, diced
(these are the veg that I got in today's box/had in the cupboard!)
1/2 pint dry cider (good excuse to drink the rest: lovely biddenden (Kent) real cider  )
about 1/2 pint water (just covered veg)
    1 apple, diced
    mixed herbs, bay leaf
    1 veg stock cube

Method: I sweated the onion and then the other vegetables for 10 min or so. Then I added the stock/water/cider and brought it up to high pressure. Once at pressure I cooked it for 15 minutes, then reduced pressure quickly (under the tap). Meanwhile I made some dumplings (2oz self-raising flour, 1oz suet, dried parsley and cold water to mix) and added those into the cooker. I put the lid back without the weights and without closing it properly. 10 minutes later the dumplings were done.

Verdict: not bad at all, depsite preferring meat in my stews. ;)

  • Kazd,

I have a Tefal Clipso "Vitamin" the only mistake I made was getting the 10 litre one!! It really is a bit big for one LOL. It does what it says on the can, has two pressures and is really easy to use. It does have an ususual feature in that it vents hot air (like me) until the contents have pre-warmed and only steam is in the cooker. I like it a lot.

P.S. I also have two skyline cookers one dinky and one normal, anyone know where to get the gaskets from???? I'm bereft. LOL
