Private car parking fine

I rent a flat and as part of my tenancy agreement i also get a designated car parking space.
Last week, i left my car in its designated space but my parking permit fell off the dashboard into the footwell and i received a penalty notice for £60. I have contacted the company who adminstered the notice but they do not take "personal circumstances" into account.
does anyone have any advise as to how i can get them to drop this fine?

Yes, ignore it, if it really is a private parking company. Because you have not been fined. And anyway, there IS no appeals procedure with a private parking company. Because they want your money.

Dammit, sarahg1969 beat me to it again!
Yeah, just ignore it, they'll leave you alone eventually...and to quote one of her earlier posts, it's not a fine, as only the courts can fine you, it's basically just an invoice they hope you'll pay.If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
