Try applying for a mainstream card. You won't know if you don't try.

Try http://www.flybe.com/card/default.htm They seem good for people with an improved credit history.

Who is eligible to apply for a Flybe Card?
UK (including Isle of Man and Channel Islands) residents aged 18 years and over and over with a UK (including Isle of Man and Channel Islands) bank or building society account. You will need to provide a landline telephone number for home or work and have a regular source of income through full-time or part-time employment of more than 16 hours per week (this can be you or your partner), or be a student, retired or on incapacity benefit. Finally, you need to have a clean credit history, ie, no arrears, defaults, County Court Judgments (CCJs), bankruptcies or Individual Voluntary Agreements (IVAs). You will also need to provide an active email address in order for you to register with the Rewards4all programme.

I would doubt whether they accept people who have an "improved credit history"

Unless someone can tell me they had bad credit history but somehow managed to get the flybe card???

    Well you're wrong.

I wouldn't post this if I didn't know. Alot of people in the "sub prime club" have been accepted for this card.

So please get you facts right before casting aspersions.

Alright just chill out sutton!! Apart from Flybe credit card, are there other mainstream credit cards that are known to accept people with fair credit history?

There are not many mainstream card which will accept people with a less than perfect credit history these days.

Other than Flybe as i mentioned, there is really only MBNA. They do a classic card which some "sub primers" have again been successful in getting, but only after paying a £100 deposit. The deposit is returned after 6 payments made on time.

That's not a very positive attitude or encouragement for the poster?

If people, who have been trying to rebuild their credit history over several months with cards that were only available to them at the time ie Capital 1 Classic, Vanquis etc were not to take the 'plunge' and apply for a better card and with a lower APR after several months of holding them, then they would be stuck with a Credit Rebuilding Card forever.

The Poster has stated that they have no CCJs, missed payments, a few searches etc and have held a Vanquis Card for 8 months which has shown payment history.

I'm guessing 8 months repayments of another Credit Card should appear to Flybe as a good indicator as payment history.

Unless the poster has 'tons' of credit searches on ur Credit Files, then I see no reason why they should not apply.

Have you got any adverse data like defaults or late payments on your file? If you have not, and you got lots of series of green O s, then you have a good credit history - but if you are just starting out then i would class this as improving credit rating or missed payments from few years ago would be classed as improved credit rating.

Like Sutton said, you dont know until you apply!
    Go for it.
  • just tried flybe on their website.the website is saying it can not open the web page.is they something wrong with their website ?

It looks that way. Try again later i suggest.

Have you tried your own bank A&L. They already have a relationship with you and if you have had a good record with them, that may be the best place to start.

If you don't want to wait try a normal lender I.E Egg, MBNA,and M&S to name a few. The decision is yours
