British Gas Computer - It worked!!

Those who post regularly on here are aware that the new BG computer system costing about £450 million has been a disaster. I along with many others have had lots of niggling problems.

I have 4 accounts, and lately it has been getting them correct.

Yesterday I had a bill on-line that was based on an under-estimated meter reading(not the fault of BG as this is for a little used annex that, unusually, was used a great deal this winter)

So I entered in the correct meter reading and it 'instantly' updated my account using my meter reading and gave me the correct charges and balance.

For the first time I was impressed with the system.

However as there had obviously been no human check, it did occur to me that had I entered a much lower meter reading, if it would have increased my credit balance;)

    i was surprised too.

I updated my readings after an online "bill" appeared and it corrected the amounts the very next day.

Again though the estimate was slightly under (only a few units).

So the question is does it automagically correct when they have over charged :-)

My account updated instantly(seconds) I went straight back into the account to check something else and it was already amended.

I assume that you can only amend the bill if it is based on an estimated reading and you have been invited to submit an actual reading within x days.

Next time I get an estimated bill I will 'pretend' it has over-estimated by a few kWh to see if it reduces my bill.

    P.S.
    Like the verb.
