I make that about twelve calls you made there Donna one to a Liverpudlian(although if the operator never said they were from Liverpool they could easily be from Wirral ,Southport,Runcorn etc and you would never know) just to keep things fair can you tell us where all the others are from ?
sounds like you've had the Abbey or A&L run-a-round I have at least one a month  Keep a log times and names. then you can ask for them by name:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
I took 1 year fixed 5.75% forms in to my local Nationwide branch earlier this week. One for myself and one for my husband.
We were consolidating matured Tessa bonds & Members ISA Bonds into the 1 Year Fixed Isa Bonds.
I received my statements of closure and the new certificate for the 1 year fixed rate ISA @5.75% on Tuesday (statements) & Wednesday(new certificate)
Waited till now to ring and find out why my husbands documents weren't through.
Well...The Matured Tessa ISA @ £9000+ in their words...they have lost!
Transferred out of account on 5th and account closed 13th
They don't know where it's gone.
The Members ISA Bond is still sitting there as a Members ISA Bond.
The above is from a post I made last November.
Frustrating at the time but it did get resolved eventually.
So I wouldn't worry too much, I'm sure A & L will put things right...in time.:rolleyes:0 -
Best of luck in resolving this. Remember that there is an audit trail of EVERYTHING that happens in a bank, so you will get your money back - all you need is to be able to speak to the right person.
Raising it as a complaint on the number YorkshireBoy gave will probably help with this.0 -
Hi, Thank you to everyone on here. I have got my money back, A+L have put it into my Current account. Therefore I lose interest for 3/4 days.
I agree I may have overeacted, but I have been saving my money for a long time
and although it may sound like small change to some (URH039)!! It is not to me. I have worked hard to save my money towards a house and have looked forward to watching my savings grow, but over the last week my job may be made redundant, therefore when this happens it send you a bit crazy and into a panic mode. I was not rude to anyone on the phone, (maybe a bit ;-!!) but it should have not escalated like it did did. I will ring the number posted, many thanks. I will also write a letter with
the above diary of accounts on!
Many thanks everyone!, XXX0 -
Glad to hear it's all sorted now goldendonna.
Money being lost in cyberspace is bound to be a worry at the time.0 -
hehe I had to chuckle at your story goldendonna, I have been dealing with the fabulous A and L customer service centre now for about 4 months after I gave them the go ahead to sort out the transfer of my direct debits from my old provider to them - they have messed up the complete process, and now I am trying to get them to pay me back for my late fees and interest from credit cards etc which is now about £60. I'm having just as much (erm) fun as you, they are a bunch of morons I hate them.
Just tried the helpdesk to talk to someone about my ISA and after the 10 options the telephone gives me, it tells me that the offices are now closed.
Maybe this decrease in interest is a sign that we should go somewhere else argh! :mad:0 -
I've just come across your posting as I did a google search on what those 0844 or similar customer service numbers that appeared on my phone bill that costed me a fortune.
Basically when I opened my new Alliance & Leicester account, they got my flat number wrong, so I had to phone a few times to get my card and account info sent to me. In addition to that, I could not find the sort code of the bank mentioned anywhere, not in the letters sent to me, not anywhere in the online account website, basically you have to phone them to find out, again that costs money, considering all the automated process you have to go through before you get to speak to a human.
So from you posting above, I would make a wild guess that the customer service phone lines must have charged you over £30 if not more for the duration of time you were on the phone!!!
Try to claim these unnecessary charges back because after all it's their fault with their incompetent automated banking system!!0 -
