im going to look at the cost of renting now thanks!
its just a shame about the £500 reservation fee
iv done a search for them terms socrates and read about it,
I still think a 4 bed, 3 bathroom,3 floored house with a garage underneath for 150k is a good deal to say its fully carpeted with a fitted kitchen
depends on the area and value of similar homes. london a bargain but up north then expensive0 -
Royal bank of scotland have now given us a mortgage promise after telling them all about the default and doing a credit check so ill see how that goes, thats going to be slightly higher per month £822 and its fixed for 5 years but if all goes well we should be fine0

Where, where are you guys finding such prices? I am seriously questioning my life choices now. What am doing in my SE where this money could buy you a studio, a 1 bed flat at best?0 -
Its in a village called Whitwood, its near Wakefield West Yorkshire0

If you think that's good take a look further North
We bought a new build last year (5 bed detatched, seperate garage etc etc) and have 147k mortgage over 30 years.
We bring home about the same as yourselves and my OT has just gone on maternity leave. We don't have loads of money left over a month but I wouldn't say we struggled.
THAT SAID, if we were buying now we could pick a even better house 25k cheaper. I know we would get less for our old one but still ;-)0 -

Good luck with your purchase,
If you can afford it, buy it and enjoy it!
Just remember interest rates could be a lot higher in the future.0 -
Your mortgage guy sounds well dodgy, and mortgage companies are becoming increasingly reluctant to lend on new-builds. Run a mile, and be thankful you only lost your £500 holding deposit.poppy100
