Memory cards (merged)

Not knowing a lot about them, I hope this is a bargain, but if you know better, let me know!
I was searching for an SD memory card; looking at Ebuyer, & near to selecting their 256MB cheapest.
Then I came across one at EmpireDirect: Panasonic RPSDH256E; sale price £12.50 (after sale price £69.99, saving £57.49).
Thinking this was a remarkable, if not totally unbelievable reduction, I googled it, & it seems other retailers are charging lots more - here's a paste of the results:-
Panasonic RPSDH256E 256mb Sd Card - £12.50 - Empire Direct
Panasonic RPS-DH256E - £55.80 - https://www.digitalempireonline.co.uk
Panasonic RPS-DH256E - £55.80 - https://www.digico.co.uk
Is it really so much better than the Ebuyer cheapest, though?

No, their after sale price is somewhat ridiculous.
I've had loads of SD cards of different brands and apart from the high speed cards, I've found no difference whatosever.
The Panasonic ones, like most, are probably just generic memeory with a brnad stickker on the front.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Unless you want that specific panasonic SD card, I would suggest trying Amazon (just search for SD card).
A 512MB SD card is only £15.98.... (double the capacity for a couple of extra quid!).
Hope that helps!

Or you could try Crucial Technology....I bought a 1gb sd card from them for £34.

OR if you want 'Top Quality' you can buy the SanDisk Ultra II (USB) SD Plus Card - 1GB with Free Keychain Card Holder for £46.80 (usually double the price elsewhere) delivered from here :
http://www.picstop.co.uk/Secure-Digital-(SD)/SanDisk-Ultra-II-(USB)-SD-Plus-Card---1GB
This card doesn't require a card reader as it has it's own built in USB connection. Effectively this makes it the smallest USB memory stick on the planet.
It's also a 66x Hi-Speed card.

Great spec and a good price but there are compatiblity issues "CANON Cameras: Do not currently support Sandisk SD Plus cards" would have bought this one otherwise!Seth.0 -
I find this a great source for memory cards. You can get all sort of memory cards including 2GB SD cards and their prices are also reasonable.
