My gran keeps her heating on constant and pays £10 a week from her pension into her account to cover the bill when it comes, its more than enough to cover her annual bill for Gas, its called budgeting, she is on basic pension credit.

My gran gets it and her bungalow is cold. My Feb 09 bill came up to £364 and the heating is on for 10 hours of the day. The winter fuel allowance would cover my bill so don`t understand why she only has her heating on for 4 hours a day. She`s over 80 so got £400 and her winter bill was £154.

Some people are so set in their ways about being frugal its difficult for them to change.

I know, was just discussing it with my mother earlier as I`d been round and she wasn`t in and not answering her mobile! She`s gone to my aunties for a week so at least she`ll be warm. She was with me from boxing day for a few days and when I took her home it was freezing. I wouldn`t mind but she really isn`t short of money and I`ve told her she should spend it because we will when she`s gone or she`ll be forced to fund her care if she can`t remain in her home.
