Churchill Insurance - No claims discount will not be considered.

Hi,
We set up car insurance from Churchill around four months ago - price was approx £400 and was based on 1 years no claims discount. We sent the no claims confirmation to them (unrecorded!) however one month later we received a letter from Churchill advising the insurance had increased to over £1200 as they did not receive the no claims evidence!
I promptly cancelled the insurance and went with Swift. I have now been sent a £500 bill from a debt receovery agent, this is for outstanding insurance and cancellation fees from Churchill.
I'm happy to pay the cancellation fee and the outstanding insurance however this should be based on the price with 1 year no claims discount. Churchill are saying that can no longer be considered as we cancelled the policy before they received the confirmation of the no claims.
Am I to pay the £500 and accept the default or do I have an arguement with Churchill?
Thanks

Why did you not just resend it to them as it must have got lost in post, then you would have still got it for the cheaper price???0

They are technically correct and I can see why they are enforcing it. It "smells" of fraud. Doesn't mean you were committing fraud but it has that appearance.
I suggest you get the NCD proof and give it to them. They should still accept it even at this late stage.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Good question.woodys_wonders wrote: »Why did you not just resend it to them as it must have got lost in post, then you would have still got it for the cheaper price???
And since when does one years' NCD equate to a 65% discount?
I think the OP is a bit confused.0
