Am i right in thinking that paying council tax for the current finanical year has finished and we get Feb/Mar with no payments?
Friend at work mentioned it today, so of course it got me thinking what to use the extra money for, as in what debt to put it towards. Im band A and paid £105 a mth.

I'm not sure about that? I have payments to make at the beginning of February and March, but believe that it is April/May that we get off (based on a standard 10 mth payment plan).0

Oh right, have to dig out my bill then. My friends way of thinking was we got Feb/Mar with no payment and then started again in the new tax year in April.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160

For my local council, the financial year runs from 1 April to 31 March. My payments are due on 13th of the month, but since I only get paid on the 21st, that's when they get their money.
Therefore, my first payment for the next council year will be made on 21 April, the last will be 21 January, so I will have February and March each year where I don't pay council tax.
If in doubt, phone the council and check that you've made all your payments.0 -
Well, my last payment is in march and they bill you up to March on the statement. As I said, 10 payments is the norm (it's almost always 10 unless you specifically ask for 12, or use full year payment etc.)
So payments in June, July, August, September, October, November, December, January, February and March would make sense. I could, however, be wrong - please let me know if I am?0 -
My friend was right, just dug out my bill and mine says ' Final payment due 28/01/2009'.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160

Yes, it's the same for me - always a little bit more money in Feb and Mar. It may depend where you are though, other councils might have different rules.0 -

Well i could get 1 debt paid off, that would be nice.
How do i go about that though?? As i am in a DMP with payplan, can i simply request that the extra payment i make of £105 in feb and then again in march goes to a certain creditor or will they not do that...
Edit - Have contacted payplan, just have to wait and see what they say.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
February & March are "free" months for council tax for me here in [strike]sunny[/strike] snowy Ess ex. March and April are free for water rates too.:D0
