***I am not related this company at all, this just another great free security tool to keep one step ahead of the bad guys****
You have you AntiVirus software downloading all the latest patches and running regular scans.
You regularly scan you PC with the latest Malware Removal tools,
But what about the security holes in software in our desktop software, i.e Quicktime, Flash, Shockwave, Media players etc. These all leave vulnerabilities that you have to keep on top of to ensure the bad guys can't get in via a back door.
There is now a brilliant tool that will scan your PC identify those applications you are using that are out of date, have security patches released etc and will advise on the severity of the alert and how to best download the latest version(normally it provides a handy link straight to the download.)
The app is Secunia PSI a free desktop version of an enterprise product used by lots of companies to keep on top of patching enterprise systems and desktops. I have been using for about a month and have to say it is brilliant.
Just another product to add to your defenses!

I agree. I´ve had this running on both my desktop and laptop for about 9 months. It identifies holes in patches and updates, and hels you sort them out. It´s also quite a nice piece of software to help identify the exact releases of the software on your pc.0

i also just came across this - really got my machine in order now - just the OH and 3 for the kids to do now!!
out of date programmes are a big back door for hackers. mind you even when fully up to date most modern programmes (MS Office, Adobe, flash, etc) also seem to be quite unsafe:eek::eek:I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine0 -
Good program, I can recommend it as well as the File Hippo version !
