Home Insurance renewal - price matching

I have just received my house insurance renewal schedule from NatWest Insurance Services, who we have been with for a number of years. After taking Martin's advice and spending just about 1 hour checking comparisons, the lowest comparible quote was some £200 cheaper. I decided to ring my current insurers and ask for a price match, which, after a short deliberation they agreed to. £200 saved!! I can't believe it. Spread the word, it was so easy. Thanks Martin.:j

I did the same last week with Direct Line, for the sake of a few minutes on the interweb and a 5 minute phone call I saved £100 and ended up paying less than I did last year for an increased level of cover.
So easy to do, yet some people can't be bothered. You ask them for money off, they say yes. Simple as that.

I was recently in the bank with my Dad and noticed on the screen something about 'buildings and contents cover £58 per month' I nearly had a fit and asked the advisor who was dealing with my Dad if that was correct. She said it was and I said that sounded expensive to me....her reply....Its only got a £100 excess
So when we got back to my Dads I asked him about it. He said he had not long had the renewal and it was due in 2 days to renew and he was going to let it. His renewal price was.....wait for it.....£768 IIRC
I immediately got online and found him BETTER cover for £249!
He was amazed and paid for it immediately.
He then called his existing co to tell them not to renew and they came back with a price of £333
I advised him some years ago to shop around but neither him or my Mum can be bothered. They just pay the renewals when they get them.
I'm hoping this massive saving will spur him onto to shop around from now on
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
