I thought that some people may be interested in saving money by cutting down on energy consumption when using their computers (the website is called Money Saving Expert after all!).
I posted the link on 3 boards, all of which are relevant to the subject context.0 -

Hi dreamypuma, thanks for your interest.
It's hard to quantify the total saving for all of the tips listed in the video; however, laptops can use up to 85% less energy than desktop computers which, with moderate usage, equates to about £35/year in electricity bills.
Another quantified tip is by choosing an Energy Star computer and printer (which are certified to be energy-efficient by the European Union) you can cut your electricity bill by £35 over their lifetimes.
With the other tips mentioned in the video, it really is a case of 'how long is a piece of string?' - the more efficiently your computer is running, the less energy it is going to use and the lower your electricity bills will be.
On an individual basis these aren't the biggest savings in the world, however this is per machine (or user) though, so if you made the switch for a whole office next time equipment was being bought the savings would obviously be considerably more.
And the effect on the environment would be positive too. For example, if a million more people shut down their office PCs overnight, we would eliminate as much CO2 as is emitted by about 20 return flights to Thailand
