Aldi had a champagne that beat the Veuve Cliquot and the Moet et Chandon in a blind taste test.

    I think it's called Veuve Monsigny, and it's a tenner a bottle.

We have 50 guests and two cases of champagne, plus a spare bottle in case we run out!

I am working on the basis that you get six champagne flutes to each 75 cl bottle. I am just wondering how much you think 12 adults might drink, I am guessing at 6 which would be 3 glasses each.

3 glasses does not seem a lot to me but we are going to offer tea, coffee, etc.

At £30 a bottle I dont want to spend a fortune getting too much in but I would hate to not have enough in as we are just doing a small reception at our house.

We have tried some of the cheaper brands but only really like Moet & Veuve Clicquot, if anyone knows where we could get some cheap that would also be realy helpful.

Why not stick to your 6 bottles, which gives everyone plenty chamagne, then get some bottles of wine or something for people who want to keep drinking.

I like champagne, but wouldn't drink it exclusively at an event.

Half a bottle seems like quite alot to me I know I would be a little merry with half a bottle of bubbles. People will happly move on to red or white after a glass and a half.

1 thing I have always wanted to do is a champange tasting which you could do 6 different bottles.
  • we had cava as the welcome drink and toast drink and then wine on the tables for the meal, i think it worked one welcome drink, 2/3 glasses of wine and one toast drink per persson, the cava was £13 per bottle and the wine was £13.75 per bottle.

many places now offer cava as it is a cheaper alternative to champagne and m&s do a good cava, just make sure you taste it 1st as some cava tastes horrible
