How much champagne?

I am working on the basis that you get six champagne flutes to each 75 cl bottle. I am just wondering how much you think 12 adults might drink, I am guessing at 6 which would be 3 glasses each.

3 glasses does not seem a lot to me but we are going to offer tea, coffee, etc.

At £30 a bottle I dont want to spend a fortune getting too much in but I would hate to not have enough in as we are just doing a small reception at our house.

We have tried some of the cheaper brands but only really like Moet & Veuve Clicquot, if anyone knows where we could get some cheap that would also be realy helpful.

I would give your guests a decent Cava for around £10 a bottle, the M&S Vintage Cava makes a great substitute, save the good stuff for yourself, I am sure someone will be along shortly to suggest Nasti Asti, please don't as all that is fit for is drain cleaner,

I would do the same, get cava and have the champers for yourself!
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

  • We tried getting a decent bottle of Cava, but it was not nice. I dont want to just end up spending a lot of money trying different things to find out that all the money I have saved I have really just spent on trying other drinks.

Is there nowhere where I could get some small sample bottles? I know asda do some now for £2 a bottle but these are mostly just wines.

    Moet & Veuve Clicquot,

Some supermarkets if you buy 6 bottle of the same item they give you a further 5% discount, I'd shop around.

Some of the other suggestions sound good too.

    Good luck

  • Hiya,

This time of year (V-Day) there are offers on TONS of champagne. We're opting for a Rose Cava, and the one we prefer is half price at £5.99 a bottle (whoop!) so we'll be getting 15 of those for our "welcome" drinks =oD
  • Have you looked into online retailers such as laithwaites and tesco wine club? you may be able to get it a bit cheaper also you can use quidco for laithwaites and maybe tesco wine club.

Hope you get a good deal.

  • I see there's a 40% off at Threshers voucher on here too if you've set your heart on the more expensive stuff. Could you do Bucks Fizz? I dont know exactly what you're function is I assume a wedding from where it was posted and wondered if you'd thought of either as suggestd keeping the good tsuff toyour table or starting on good stuff and working down to slightly cheaper stuff (not asti) as one ppl have had a few glasses they cant tell. Do need to give everyone lots of champagne or could you do 1 glass for the toasts and a glass on arrival. I cant spell it but Freixnet is what we used to do, we get a few cases of Champagne and then onto that. I know LIDL do a Champagne for £10 that's v palatable and as suggested M and S. Not sure any of this has helped but hope you get yourself what you want ideally save some cash too and most of all have a fab time!

As its just in the house there will be no tables, just the drinks out for every one to help themselves. We tried Freixnet, but didn't really like it.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, i just wish I could go to a shop, get really drunk having mouthfuls of everything  and then just pick the one I liked the best.
