Going self employed, housing benefit?

I know of someone who is thinking of starting his own business. He is in northern ireland so maybe it is different but he has seen a business advisor (supplied by the job centre) and they have told him everything he needs to do. They set up a joint account (him and them) and he cannot touch the money for 6 months. In that time he gets jobseekers to live off. This may not be the info you are looking for but i thought it might help. Until you make a profit you will have no income so maybe you would need to claim benefit until it does. Check with the cab and find out if you can get an advisor - get all the advice you can - and good luck!I like my money right where I can see it - hanging in my closet.;)0
