Hi all
I am having trouble setting up a Linskys Wireless-G (model WRT54GS) to run broadband between my PC and laptop.
The router is connected to the web, the adapter to the laptop is working and the signal strength is strong, but i keep on getting the message 'internet found but cant access'.
I have been on the phone to CS for over 2hrs with no luck and hope someone here can help. TIA Kelly

Is it working OK from the PC?
Is it a WIndows laptop, what version of Windows?0 -
does the pc get internet acces ok?
i am assuming that the pc is connected to the router, the router is then connected to the broadband modem which is then connected to the phone socket via a filter (square box about the size of a box of matches)smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

Yes, works fine on PC. Its only the laptop that gets message when we try to connect to the Internet from it. Laptop is an XP edition.robnye wrote:i am assuming that the pc is connected to the router, the router is then connected to the broadband modem which is then connected to the phone socket via a filter (square box about the size of a box of matches)

On the laptop, click Start - Run - type in cmd and click OK. At the prompt type:
ipconfig/all
and press return. Copy and paste the output here, disguising the Physical Addresses shown and any IP addresses (numbers in the format n.n.n.n) not starting 192.0 -
One person solved this problem by resetting the router ...
Title: Linksys wireless adapter communicating with access point but not with Internet
asked by alicia1234 on 10/03/2004 07:37PM PDT
"I reset the Linksys AP back to its default settings (hard reset) ... then ran setup again and put in the same settings as I had before.
I powered on the notebook ... still got the message about being connected to the AP but not to the internet. BUT ... the IP address had been correctly assigned. So I checked if I could see the rest of my network, and I could! Then I tested Internet access and it worked.
So I guess the solution was to just reset the LInkSys AP and start over???"

Click Start > Connect To > Show all connections, and enable the wireless network connection if it's there.
Also, the Network Bridge is a bit odd. Have you enabled Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)? If, so disable it because you don't need ICS if you have a router. This page shows how (untick the 'Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection' box).
A list of everything shown in Network Connections might help too, because we *might* end up deleting the Network Bridge (not sure yet).
