  • Not meaning to sound rude, but what would you have done for money if the 2 items had been available and you spent the full amount? Surely you would have been in the same situation as you are now but you wouldnt have had a refund to come back to you?? You wouldnt have been able to pay your council tax then either...just a little confused by your post that's all.

Does the OP mean that the payment of £195 went out, and there is still a payment of £233 pending?

Thats the way I read it.

The original £195 came out immediately however a payment for £233, was also left pending.

I.E: Dunelm were taking two separate payments for the same purchase.
  • Ahh right..It doesnt seem clear that's all.....will wait for OP to answer just to make sure...would suggest if 2 payments are coming out then Op should contact Council to advise them of the problem..(Know how the council can be when they don't get their money..) and then get back on to Dunelm and tell them that 10 days is unacceptable.....

call you bank, and tell them it's an unauthorised use of your card. get them to advise you as to what to do.

you've made dunelm aware, they don't believe they are taking the money twice.
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?
  • Have Dunelm actually debited the money and now refunded it? If so, it may take a few days to clear into your account which probably doesn't include weekend days.

Otherwise if they haven't actually debited the funds then they will need to cancel the transaction (it may be that the funds have been authorised to go to them but they haven't actually drawn the money out of your account yet. However, the money is "reserved" for them which is why you now can't get any money out of your account).

I think you should to get onto Dunelm and tell them that their mistake is now causing you financial difficulty and that someone must sort this out today. Ask them if they are willing to compensate you for any bank charges you may incur as a result of them taking payment from you twice.

All Dunelm has to do is to ring their Credit Card Merchant Service, and get them to cancel the outstanding original "Authorisation Code" for the £233.17. This is not a refund, but should put the funds back.

We use Natwest Streamline for ours at work and when this is done when customers have been inconvenienced by a "double bubble" authorisation (similar but not the same to your circumstanses) their fund are usually available within minutes.
