Invoice from uni for fees

I was in my second year and left during November 08. Today I've received an invoice for fees which says at the bottom I can pay by cheque.
Shouldn't my student loan be covering this?

It is for 08/09 and they knew of the suspension, no one mentioned I'd have to pay any fees.
Infact, I have my "final confirmation" letter dated 18th December 2008 from the SLC stating that the fees are £694 owed to the university and that they are paying them!
Spoke to someone from SLC and they can't see why the amount hasn't been paid to the uni.
Uni say that they had the same problem with another student last year and went round in circles and never got the money back from the SLC.
Now I don't know who to contactNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

Sorry, but if your academic year began in September and you left in November, the SLC won't pay your fees.
In the Student Support Regulations 2008, and for all other versions, it is stated that in order for a student's fees to be paid, they must be in attendance 3 months after the start of the academic year. In most cases, this would be the 1st December. I'm afraid they're your responsibility to pay.0 -
Hi Taiko, that's what the uni said but the SLC confirmation says that they will because I left for medical reasons and couldn't remain until December. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

There is LEA discretion for the rest of your support to be kept in place, but the fee situation is set in stone. I do assessments for a local authority, and actually have another student on my desk at the moment in the same situation. There's nothing we can actually do with regard to that, the only discretion is for the maintenance loan/grants.0

Great. I just paid back the £300 odd they were whining for, that's why I can't pay the uni fees. I'm jumping with the uni though - they swore I wouldn't have to pay them :mad:No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Sorry to hear that, it's annoying when universities say things that aren't correct. I tend to hear it a lot, although it's mainly from the private dance schools who tell people they're ok to get loans, get them enrolled, we make them ineligible, then the students are lumbered with £10,000 fees by them.0

Never mind just looks like the decision is made that I won't be returning next year.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130
