At fault holiday car accident

I went to Orlando on holiday last year and had a minor car accident where I was at fault. I purchased all the insurance I could before going, through the travel agent and Alamo. Now I am receiving letters from a company called Rental Insurance Services based in Florida, telling me because I didn't purchase additional Liability Cover, (even though I did and can prove it), they are placing me on subrogation notice. I had to look this up but basically they are making me pay back any payout they make to the other driver.
I photocopied the receipts I got when I bought the insurance and hired the car and sent it to them to prove I had insurance but they won't respond. They also keep sending letters to the wrong address, but the postman has the common sense to look at the name rather than the house number, otherwise I wouldn't know anything about it. If I refuse to pay and they try to take me to court, would this be in the USA or in Britain and what would happen if I didn't turn up?
If anyone has had a similar experience I would love to hear any advice. Thanks

Change your credit card first off, then at least they can't just take the money whilst you argue your case. Then write to Alamo and explain that you have bought all the insurance you required and get them to look into it. Keep up the dialogue.
If you still lose you will have to decide whether you are likely to go back to the USA again as I imagine you might end up in clink if you don't pay.
Hopefully someone with more experience in this will be along shortly.0
