I've also been looking at the Abbey card. They told me its not possible to do a SBT (i.e. a BT to my current account) - they only accept transfers to other credit cards and store cards. Has anyone out there managed to crack this?stain3565 wrote:Just one more thing. As Martin says, some BT cards will charge a fee unless you ask for the transfer to your bank on application. I looked at the Abbey card. It does not look like this can be done online, so I guess I would have to apply by phone. However, there appears to be no mention in the terms that this charge will be waived if you ask for the transfer at application time. Is this the case?
I have a nil balance Egg card so it may be worth me doing a BT to that, and then trying to transfer the credit balance from Egg to my current account, but not sure if that will work??0 -
please can someone just verify for me, are the following SBTs still free, as cant find the info in their T&C: Abbey, Virgin, Egg?0

Abbey now call them a "money transfer" and charge interest and fees as though it was a cash transaction - see the definitions section (16) of their T&C's. Cheques might be an option but read the T&C's. Charge is 2% (max £50).HGLTsuperstar wrote:please can someone just verify for me, are the following SBTs still free, as cant find the info in their T&C: Abbey, Virgin, Egg?
Virgin, whilst belonging to the same stable as Abbey, do not *yet* have this "money transfer" definition in place. Again, cheques might be an option. As Abbey, charge is 2% (max £50).
Egg Green is an SBT card but again charges 2% (max £50), but you get a 5 month fee-free (S)BT in the anniversary month.
Egg Money can be used for SBT's from a positive balance after first being fed from another BT card.0 -
