cheap smartmedia card (for my phone)

i have only gone and locked myself out of my smartmedia card haven't i?
supplied card was a nokia 32mb smartmedia card, and i need a cheap replacement, boots in town were selling 64mb for £12 on clearance but i didn't know if it was cheap or not
anyone know where i can get one cheap- not really bothered about size (my phone only takes 1.2mp shots i think)
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)

Sounds cheap to me - you sure its Smartmedia, quite an old format these days (particularly for mobile phones).
  • its a nokia 6230, bit long in the tooth now, just waiting for it to die its fatal death (on my 3rd since contract start)

LOL - it's still quite a bit 'younger' than my business phone (6100 or something..). Just had a quick scan, and looks like the 6230 takes MultiMedia (MMC) not SmartMedia..

You should definitley be able to see the 'gold bars' if it's SmartMedia (MMC just have the small contact strips).

ps - £12 is still reasonable for either type by the time you've finished farting about with postage.
  • mine looks exactly like the multimedia card- looks like i would have ended up with a useless card had i bought the smartmedia one.
ok, where is good for MULTIMEDIA cards?- i think i need to rename the thread

Quite a few listed here http://computing.kelkoo.co.uk/b/a/sbs/uk/memory/keywords/mmc/111001.html (64mb for around a tenner).
  • 128mb mm card ( if that size is compatible ) is £11.40 on ebuyer.com ...you could possibly order something else as well and pay the same postage. site is reasonably easy to navigate
  • i've no idea what size is compatible, which may be worth looking into, as a large card for not much more is probably worth buying.
btw do tesco do multimedia card directly to photo cd processing for £1.99? i noticed they do up to 500 shots on a photo cd for £1.99 and i thought this would be ideal if they do jpeg or kodak photo cd format

warning not the same card but do check first
i bought 2 smartmedia cards for an old camera, a 16mb & 32mb neither would format because they were to big

( joke in todays terms )

i only needed an 8mb and a kind money saver sent me his old one, i put the 2 new cards on ebay for charity no one wanted them so if anyone wants a smartmedis card 1 is 16mb the other is 32mb donation to a charity and they are yours.

I've also been caught out buying too large a card for a device - mp3 player. Check with Nokia the maximum size it will support before you buy.

Amazon have some good prices but they're not always the cheapest.
