I try and use Ikea dark and milk chocolate for cooking/making chocolate things as it melts well (I use the microwave), tastes ok and is only 49p for a 100g bar. We were in Ikea yesterday so I stocked up on 10 bars of dark and 10 of milk ;)

I make Rocky Road quite a bit and always melt chocolate in the microwave. I melt 200g at a time in a bowl, set microwave to 1 minute, take out and stir and then back for another minute, stir and it should be melted.

They look lovely. I have got numerous moulds but have never used them. Might have to dig them out and have a go.

Hi all, I got some mini silicone cake cases in poundland the other week that are perfect for making chocolates in, they come in blue, orange and pink I think and have about 10 in a pack.

I used them yesterday and made some chocolates with fudge in the middle and they have gone down really well with the kids.

I'm not doing stocking fillers this year for my nieces and nephews I'm going to make baking hampers after I saw someone else make them on this forum
so I've bought the silicone moulds as a start for those
    great bargain
I have the chocolate slabs out yesterday and I think some people were just being nice as they asked if I'd bought them and one person thought I'd been to thorntons
I was pleased with the way they turned out but didn't think they were that good lol

lol... sounds like they turned out well. I made chocolate slabs for my children and some children of the staff who work in my partners pub and they were all really well received.
The baking hamper sounds like a lovely idea, wouldn't mind doing one for my eldest child as he is quite interested in baking and making things... will have a look what I can find.
