Can you use no claims bonus on 2 policies?

Our main car is insured is my wifes name with me as a named driver. It was cheaper than the other way around. My wife has now built up a no claims discount of 2 years.

She has just been given a 1997 Corsa that she would like to insure , in addition to the other policy, for her use only (I have no intention of driving it). When we get a quote for this car do we still say that she has 2 years no claims and is therefore eligible for 2 years no claims discount?

Thanks

some insurers may let her keep the no claims on a second car ,but the majority of insurers dont . contact her own insurers and ask them if they will do it ,if not shop about

You can say she has 2 years NCB on her other car (they usually ask if there are any other vehicles and what NCB do they have) but they can't be used on the new car unfortunately. Only way to use them on the new car is at renewal transfer them from main car to Corsa.
At renewal, if you insure the 2 cars with the same co they might match the NCB for the first year then at renewal again she will have 1 year on the new car.

Also it might be worth considering adding yourself as a named driver on the Corsa policy purely in the event that main car is off the road for any reason you are still able to drive a car.
I say this because in Nov my Dads car was written off. Dad has a van for work but my Mum isn't insured and no money to add her to the policy so they had to rely on others to ferry them around for 3 months.
