Do I need a TV ariel?

Hi,
Sorry if this seems like a daft question.
My scenario is this :-
The main TV ariel (analogue) is in a position where I don't want it in my lounge.
The problem is I have laid down all the laminate flooring now, so it would be awkward to move it I guess.
My brother has told me to just cut it off (as it is currently an unsightly eyesore sticking out of my skirting board somewhat)
I want to get a freeview box as my TV is an analogue one. Will I need an analogue ariel, seeing as the analogue signal is going to be switched off soon anyway?
What do you think?

yes you will still need an aerial.
your present aerial type will do for the digital signals, in most cases. (95%).Get some gorm.0 -

Digital ariel
...sorry i simply couldn't resist
If the existing AERIAL works ok with a freeview box then no need to change it. If the signal isn't strong enough you could get a new aerial fitted designed for better reception of digital tv but once the digital switchover happens in your area the strength of the signals will be boosted anyway so it might be money wasted.
I'd get a freeview box first and see if it's ok with your existing setup. If it's ok then just get new coaxial cable rerouted to a more suitable location from the existing aerial or extend the existing cable - if not reassess and either get a new aerial or make do until digital switchover date.
