Burglar alarm - need to move wires

My burglar alarm has been wired through a wardrobe which I need to remove. On the wardrobe inside wall, there is a small box with three wires coming from it. Two wires appear to go out through the wall and one goes out through the top of the wardrobe. The box has two scews holding the face plate. When I started to undo one of these screws, the burglar alarm went off. I retightened the screw and reset the alarm and all seems to be fine. How do I get the wiring out without butchering the wardrobe?
Plan A would be to take the face plate off, ignoring the alarm, disconnect the wires, pull the wires free and reconnect the wires back into the box outside the wardrobe. Would this work?
The alarm is at least 10 years old and I only have limited user info. It is a Karisma system. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The box has an anti tamper switch in it.This is activating when you open the box.
When you open the box try putting in your alarm code this might silence the sounder ???0 -
I did as you suggested and it turns off the siren. Inside the box, each wire has 6 coloured cables going to various screw connector blocks or left free. If I carefully note the wiring connections, would I be alright to disconnect the wires and reconnect them in the same configuration outside the wardrobe?0

worth taking a photo of the wires layout before you start.0

You will be fine, just note what cable joins to what cable, the red and black will probably be 12volts.Do what you have to do and reconnect them, replace the lid and reset the alarm.

Be careful that you dont let any of the bare wires touch each other, this would either blow a fuse in the panel or ruin the panelcurlyfairy wrote: »You will be fine, just note what cable joins to what cable, the red and black will probably be 12volts.Do what you have to do and reconnect them, replace the lid and reset the alarm.

Remove both mains and battery power from the alarm panel before you start. Otherwise you will blow the fuses on the panel and possibly in the mains if you should allow the red and black wires to touch eachother.0
