Why does every thread on this board have to turn into a slanging match?

Please be nice to all moneysavers.

Well done WillowCat. Like everyone else, I just hope they don't mess you around when it comes to completion. With a reduction in the region of 25% off peak prices though the only way I can see it happening is if other properties in your area drop that much between now and completion (not bloody likely!) or if they have trouble securing finance.

Are you looking to buy another place as part of a chain, or moving into rented?

    Thanks MrDT,

I'm not planning to get involved in a chain (couldn't stand the stress!) and in any case I'm planning on moving 300 miles away so haven't looked at any properties yet.

For the time being I'm planning to put my stuff in storage and camp on our small sailboat till my job ends in August (going to uni in September). Just hoping the weather wams up by the time we've completed.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Just to let all you good people know we exchanged today!
    :j :j :j :j :j

My buyers took a little longer to get a mortgage than we hoped - turned out they were self employed. But they got there in the end and we had no problems with valuations etc.

To say I'm relieved is an understatement - I honestly thought that something was going to go wrong.

Thanks for coming back to tell us all what happened. When do you hope to complete? Do tell us when that happens, too.
Congratulations on the sale. Hope you get a good deal when you come to buy in the autumn too.

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    Well done OP!

I have 4 sets of friends/family that are all moving or first time buying at the moment. The market still exists it seems! Getting expensive on "new home" cards though ;)
