I prefer Lidls as well. They seem to do more offers than Aldi.
  • Lidls definately best for fruit and veg, peanuts, fresh orange juice but Aldis yogurt, cheese and cold meats are first class.
You can if you think you can!
  • Specials at Lidl Monday and Thursday, Aldi on Thursday. Half price veg at Lidl. If anything I think Aldi have more premium and unusual things and Lidl is better at everday staples

Aldi have some absolutely cracking wines at bargain prices. They have a Romanian Pinot Grigio at £2.79 and it is superb. I often get a bad headache after drinking cheap wine but never with this. There is a Chardonnay and a Merlot in the same range, both recommended. As for food at Aldi, basics such as Pasta, Basmati rice, Olive oil, Mozarella Cheese etc are unbeatable value in our opinion. We make a vegetarian Penne pasta with tomatoes and Mozarella and using Aldi ingredients we can make enough for 4 for about £1.00, add a Ciabatta for about 49p, a bottle of Merlot at £2.79 and you have a delicious meal for 4 for well under a fiver. The only food items we have not liked from Aldi were some Sausages and a very bizzare flavoured curry sauce we once tried. We also find that carrots from Aldi do not keep for long although we have never managed to work out why. If you can find some Chocolate coated Brazil Nuts at Aldi (they are a Christmas line but may still have some), they are probably the most delicious thing I heve ever eaten and the first time I had them I gobbled down a whole box in one session (over 1000 calories, my wife was not impressed!). We are also rather partial to the Tequila as at £9.99 (bargain) but they only have it at Christmas. There isn't a Lidl near us but we do use them if we are ever near one. There is a Netto but we find it a bit rough and ready for our liking.

p.s. dare I mention that my wife looks great in Aldi hold up stockings. :o
