I've just read through about half of this thread and have run round like a maniac switching things off at the wall - have been doing this with hob and dishwasher for a while, but suddenly struck me that there were a load of lamps, hardly ever used, plugged in and a few other things like my hairdryer.

Some great tips - am going to start keeping a flask by the kettle for all those warming hot beverages! Thanks everyone.

DH has lit the fire. I'm sat on the sofa with a blanket and furry slippers. Noon June 12th.
  • decidedly nippy isn't it. No heating. I won't allow it. I rule this house with an iron rod ;) :rotfl:

My children are in their rooms under their covers, doodling, reading and listening to music (charged while PC is on :D ) as it is pouring down.

They don't want to play in the rain because it's too cold. I don't like having lacklustre children :(

The washing is on the arier, as soon as I have finished with the oven that airer will be thrust upon that open oven door to absorb as much of the heat as possible.

Very cold and windy here, so sitting with 2 jumpers, flecce trackpants and bed socks with a hot water bottle at my feet.
I refuse to put heating on in June.
