  • hi,dont be taken in by all thr negative remarks about the cheap guitar kits on ebuyer! ive just taken delivery of one! and ,for the money its brilliant!complete with a little amp to plug your headphones in so as not to disturb the nosy neighbours.all you have to do is replace the strings for a better set and away you go.perfect for any beginner and you dont even feel embarrassed when you grip and hold the thing.and the sounds are ok. i mean more than ok. i play guitar, have done for years, and after all the positive feedback on these,i just had to have a go.you will not be disappointed! they are comparable to similar kits on the high st which are retailing for £150.

Marshalls do a starter pack, the Rockitt, for about £99 and you can buy them is most good music stores (especially around Milton Keynes where they're based).
Can't get much better than Marshalls !!!

A review of the guitar -
Total Guitar reviews the different guitar and amp packages out there and Marshall's Rockkit wins hands down!

Unfortunately they don't have a web store, but you can phone for a list of suppliers.

I mentioned the Behringer Vtone pack above - here it is for £79

I'd go for this because the amp must be better. Behringer are a cheap make generally but they do make a lot of stuff including amps and effects s they know what they are doing.

Although is see the above link is out of stock - but I'm sure it can be found elsewhere at this price.

The Fender Squire starter packs are not bad, the amp is passable and the guitar is playable. I'd recommend them.

As everyone else mentioned, cheap guitars are usually pretty bad, but here's another way to think about it; if you spend lots of money on a guitar, you'll be more determined to learn!

I'd be tempted to see if you can get a 2nd-hand Epiphone Les Paul or something. Looks great and sounds good too. I bought one of those in a pack with a Fender amp (70w) a few years ago for about £300 and it was very good (though not as good as the Gibson Les Paul Classic and Marshall I've got now! :money: )
