Breastfeeding clothes

Thank you! I ordered some last night from one of those links.
I still want to look nice, even though breastfeeding, & I've never been a fan of big shirts or checks, so don't want to start now!
And I'm cold...even more so today. I really didn't want to have to expose anything more than a nipple - I didn't mind lifting my top up in summer
. Can't wait for my new tops to arrive, & then I'll have to practise to see if I can manage to breastfeed her in her new sling too, without having to move my clothing about too much. (the tops I've bought match the colours on the really pretty ring sling too) 0 -
men's shirts are good or any top that you can lift up discreetly. went to a meeting last week and a breastfeeding mother had one of those large scarves/shawls that she draped over herself and the baby-this seemed to work well for all concerned0

OOOhhhh is it one of those slings from the lady on ebay? Freedom slings? If it is (or if it is similar) could you let me know how you get on with it please? I really really fancy getting one of them!0 -
I always wear a vest top under another top be it a jumper or whatever so that I can pull one down and one up. I only had one breastfeeding top which I got from mothercare but it seems to expose more than my other way of doing it!
Well done on BF by the way.
For anyone interested in slings, I have a freedom sling which is a ring sling and was okay for around the house when M was tiny including BF but he never felt that secure. For versitility try a wrap. I got mine from https://www.gypsymama.com in the US and it is the bali breeze (I got it when he was 4m). It is a light weight gauze and he has bf in that occasionally when out. It is amazingly comfy and didn't take long to get used to tying it. They do stretch ones too which may be better for tinies.

I bought a zolowear ring sling & it's beautiful. comes with a dvd, although I'm still learning, & desperately trying to find my local sling meet group (registered on their forum weeks ago, & still not got permission to post...i think their admin must be on holiday or snowed in  ). They are rather pricey new, but I bought it at an nct sale
.
baby seems quite happy in it, & snores whlilst I carry her around, & wakes up & start howling when I put her down. She's rather colicy, so atleast it gives me a chance to do stuff & carry her about. I've not yet risked carrying her outside, as I'm still not sure I'm doing it right, & i'm scared of falling on the ice. OH thinks it's funny, won't go near it (it's pink & flowery) & wants her to weigh enough to go in the much more manly denim baby bjorn.0 -
Try http://www.mumtops.co.uk/ (should point out I have no connection to this site, it's run by a WAHP I know from another forum and she's very good)Norn Iron Club member 273:beer:0

Check out http://www.BellaMama.co.uk they have a good range of tops and there's a SALE section on there too with tops from £14.
Drop cup camisole tops are also great - they're pretty cheap and you can wear them under your existing tops but allow you to feed easily and without showing your tum. They stand up to repeated washing and wearing well too.0 -

It's very similar to the one I want so thank you for telling me how you are getting on! My main reason is for feeding around the house (normal BF positions give me backache) and incase it's a clingy baby. Plus I can cradle and do stuff at the same time.
Thansk again!0 -
that's what I did! And I drapped a muslin over my shoulder to cover myself up.

I also don't have any specific clothes but I wear a long low cut vest or low cut long sleeve top, with a jumper or long sleeve top over it. Then you can pull one up and one down meaning easy access!
Well done for breastfeeding, if you need any help, I'm a qualified nhs peer supporter, so feel free to pm me if you need any advice. I just stopped feeding my daughter. She self weaned last week! - she's 21 months old so not a little baby anymore.
I never got on very well with the slings. I think it was because I am only 5'1, and had a huge bump (looked like carrying twins). So when I was pregnant I had no need for tummy muscles (bump propped me up!) and they wasted away. After I'd had my daughter, I was walking hunched over for a good few weeks! So I just didn't have the strength to wear a sling. Then when I'd got my strength back it was the middle of the summer and my baby was too hot in the sling.
For short people (in the winter!) though, I would say the only sling I found good was the one that's a long piece of fabric and you tie it around yourself. All the others are made for taller people, so the baby sits far too low down and it does your back in.0
