This is only my opinion and doesn't answer your question.
Most electrical/appliance insurances are a waste of money. At the end of the day stores want to sell you it to make more money. This means that the income from the insurance must exceed what they pay out. The law of averages says that you will therefore save money by not having the insurance. A better option would be to buy a more reliable make. For example buy a miele washing machine instead of a hotpoint. the miele will last 25 v's 7 years and be much cheaper in the long run and don't even consider paying for insurance. Don't buy a bush or decca colour TV either! You also have to consider that if the TV breaks after 4 years it will be a low spec after 4 years and could be bought dirt cheaper anywayCash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j
Mortgages make money. Definitely don't wanabee mortgage free!0 -

work out the insurance like this,
My TV costs X the insurance is Y, if TV beaks in first year manufactorer has to fix / replace. what will the TV be worth in 1 year ? .
EG CRT 28 " tv from tesco £150 .
EG insurance £80 for 3 years .
so really you woudl only be £70 short of a new TV after the insurance .. worth it ? Id say if your worried about insurance by the TV, Put the cost of the insurance in the bank towards another TV and add £5 a month for when it does break in 14 months you will have £150If it doesnt pay rent sell it.
Mortgage - £2,000

Thank you for your help ,
The reason I am asking for insurance is I bought a Thomson rear projection 3 years ago and on the second year the blue tube went , this cost a lot of money to replace and so the £200 insurance paid off . I have now bought LG plasma and if some thing goes in the TV it will be expensive .The site 247 Electrical does not sell TV cover insurance .

Hi
I know where you are coming from - I also had a mega-expensive Sony rear projection tv where the bulbs cost over £200 to replace. I got cover under domestic and general which I think was around £100 for the year. Sony also incidentally use dom+gen when they try and flog you their "own" warranties.
You can pay monthly. If your tv cost around £2k and it blows in the second year you WILL be thankful you got the cover! Obviously with a £200 telly its not worth it.
