I've just been to the Wickerman Festival in Dundrennan, tickets work out alot cheaper than Retrofest although you obviously have a fair bit to travel to get there. They had signs up itemising where the money goes from your ticket, i.e security, loos, bands, litter picking, vat, etc. Very good value for money and a very well organised family friendly festival.
I'm sure Retrofest will be very good for all those going, hopefully Loudoun Castle will be the ideal venue for them.
the wickerman is a great little festival ive been a few times it is great value for money, missed it this year though.
the best thing is they dont hold you to ransom by taking drink off you on the way in to the festival, you can take your own in, but as a matter of courtesy i always buy a few pints when im in the festival area....work permit granted!0 -

They introduced beer tokens this year which seemed to work well. I think they were being a bit more strict with booze going from the campsite into the arena but friends of ours managed to smuggle some in ok. I saw plenty of people with their own cans of drink in the arena.
Its such a lovely chilled out weekend in comparison to T in the Park where you have to walk miles to see bands and some of the crowd can get abit aggro.0
