A word of warning re Empire - I made a payment on line, got an email confirming it and then a week later a letter from then saying that there had been a problem with the payment and so they were charging me £15

I phoned them and they said that my credit card had been refused (unlikely as there was plenty of credit on the card), checked with my card provider and they confirmed no problem on the card. Went back to Empire and they said well the credit card companys computer must have been down when they ran the payment

They finally agreed to waiver the charge but I've voted with my feet and told them what to do with their account - not the first problem i've had with them either, they overcharged me twice also.

No matter what offers they have, this is one company I will not be ordering from again.

    judexx,

Exactly the same thing has happened to me this week.
I have been shopping with Empire stores for 15 years without any problems
then this letter about my credit card payment failing and the charge
    of £15.
I have wrote a complaint to them and have paid what was owing
on my account, except the £15 charge.
Just hoping they will waiver this.
I'm never using this company again.

i ordered from redoute (same company as empire) last year - ordered with card on net but said couldnt find order or pymt even though taken from card. even though i used to work there & knew how they worked it took me 3 months to get refund - sent copy of card statement 3 times! eventually just asked for supervisor & she refunded there & then even though said still hadnt received proof (earlier conversation someone had said proof received so who knows!). might have helped that the supervisor remembered me training her!!

Hmm...... sounds rather like Empire are having computer problems and trying to make their customers pay for them
