barclay cash card account

on the long road back to semi-normality, i was looking for a chip+pin card and online banking.
i had a card come for barclays cash card account which has a chip in it but it doesnt work at atm's or at retail outlets, so i rand barclays, the lady asked "have you been bankrupt?" to which i replied yes, she then asked "have you been discharged" to which i again replied yes.
she said if i take proof of discharge to my local barclays then i could have a chip+pin card
its only a "connect" card but its a step back to mainstream banking, and already works for online banking

I thought they issue that card as standard now with their basic account.

I'm applying for a cash card account, and my understanding also is that you get a Visa Debit card with the account.
I could be wrong. I was once, especially when it came to Sandra Cobby on the playing field.0 -
I believe that they do now supply a Connect card with their basic account now which is good as it's a proper Visa debit.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

The website says it come with a "Choice of Connect card or cash card".
Doesn't say whose choice though.

my OH opened up a basic bank account with barclays before BR, it came with a nice visa debit

he informed the or who in turn informed barclays, he had a letter from barclays saying they knew he was BR and as a result the instant savings account linked to the Basic account was shut, he kept his bank account though! wish i had done the same as i cant get one now :-(
If you know you are going to go BR, go and open one but only put £1 in it.0 -
I think its pot luck what you get, which card or even declined sometimes0
