Citibank provisional approved what does this mean?

I applied a citibank account with credit card early Jan, and got a letter on 5th/Jan said it's PROVISIONAL APPROVED and ask me to send in bank statement bills and etc, but I did do a few applications so didn't think I would get it so ignored. Three questions.
1. Does this mean I got approved just need to ID myself? Meaning no further credit check will be done (this one is what I scared of)
2. It was back in 05/01, can I still sign the form and send it in?
3. If q.2 is yes, then do I need to send in each of the documents or one will do?
Many thanks, any input is great. This site is great, I don't know what I can do without it now!!!

It means it looks like they might be able to take you on, depending on a few other little checks they do in the meantime.
Just wait and see what they say.0 -

Thanks for this, but why do you suspect I will be accepted? Is there any reason?
And thanks for the link, just noticed it.
edit: Looks like they will do another credit check: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1070713&highlight=provisionally
I will skip it for now and keep my Halifax High Interest account for now.0 -
I just called citi and thought give you an update.
Yes, indeed they will do credit check after they receive the statement and applications. So I canceled my application.0 -
