Windows Firewall

Everytime i switch the PC on i have to switch the Firewall on as it will not stay on.

It does not have "apply" just "ok" and "cancel" so i thought that by giving it the OK it should stay on..

Any ideas?

Just get a different, free firewall then - the windows firewall isn't very good anyway and there are much better alternatives on the 'net

ZoneAlarm is a free firewall from ZoneLabs: http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_za.jsp?dc=12bms&ctry=GB&lang=en&lid=dbtopnav_zass (Select Free Download then the 2nd link, Download FREE ZoneAlarm® (Firewall Protection) not the 1st spyware scanner link)
  • are you running windows xp and if so have you updated to service pack 2
    this sometimes sorts that problem

if not disable it and get a free firewall

zonealarm is not bad once you get used to it

I thought the XP firewall arrived with SP2????? In fact I'm sure it did.....

Any way, follow TigerMatt's link an get Zone Alarm, it's loads better, just takes a few minutes to set up, and then it works well :)

Firewall was bundled with XP SP1

If another firewall is installed sometimes XP firewall is disabled by the
firewall that over rules it if you see what I mean.
