Flight help for Xmas 2009

Looking for help with timing on when to book Xmas flights. We are looking to go to Singapore to stay with family, around 11 Dec, returning 2 Jan 2010 and really need some help on when will be the cheapest time to book, and also any creative money saving ideas...Dates are a little flexible, and happy to do one plane change, just need to be back in work for 5th Jan!
2 adults and 2 children travelling.
Not all the airlines have released pricing for these dates yet, so do we book now (BA is suggesting over £900 for adults and £720 for kids) to guarantee the date and time we want, or is it worth waiting, If so, how long...Book in April, or Sept for example........when will we get the best prices.
Ive heard that sometimes it works out cheaper if you book flight, and 2 or 3 nights hotel also - can anyone suggest any good agencies for exploring this (we would appreciate a couple of adult nights away as the family would be delighted to babysit our 2 so could take advantage of this).
Also we have Tesco ClubCard Deals and should have the 8000 airmiles needed for one adult return - is this the best use of the vouchers, or should we pay for the flights as normal and cash in the vouchers for club card deals to use through the year?

The best thing to do is sign up for the airlines emails. They will then e mail you their offers. Also helps being a member of their miles clubs, as you get special members emails with advanced discounts.
The best time too buy flights is just after any major holiday, as flight prices will have eased off a bit.Debt free from January 2019 - Paid off £31,161.70 in 7 years.10 year anniversary0 -

I agree sign up for BA, Emirates and Singapore Airlines newsletters. If me I would hold out just now until the rest of the flights have been released. As for when you get the best prices. I think we need a fortune teller to tell us this just now.0 -
Most of the Christmas period flights are available now (even if Expedia only lets you select a return date up to the 28th December). Airlines of course hike their prices approaching Christmas and a few of them (Emirates is one) make the first hike for departures on 10/12/09 so if you can leave a couple of days earlier than you are planning you might make a good saving. I wouldn't wait as peak period travel isn't likely to come down much in price, my opinion anyway.0
