  • Wow, some of these prices are so good compared to what I've had to pay in Edinburgh. Finally (after years of searching), I found a little city centre salon that does a great cut and colour for £38, which is a total bargain IMO.
  • wow i bought a set of wahl hair clippers for that 15 years ago and have cut my own ever since lol.

I cut my own, I HATE hairdressers, they gossip, they chatter amongst themselves, get water in my ears, get the colour wrong.

I am sure there are some very good ones out there, but just not near me.

I am happy to change my mind if any one knows anyone in the MK area who does not do the above and reasonable price, I will give them a try.

  • I get my hair cut at home by an ex stylist - costs me £16 rather than £30+. I've done this a few times now and won't go back to the salon, unless someone else pays for it!

I pay £60 for cut, colour and blowdry. I suppose I should go every 6 weeks but as the colour I choose closely matches my natural colour (I need to cover the grey bits) then I end up going once every 4 months:D

I dont like it when the juniors get water in my ears (she did the other week but then it was her first day:rolleyes: ). My hairdresser always listens to what I have to say and makes recommendations. Plus the salon has nice magazines, nice music and will always make you a tea or coffee.

The cheapest cut and colour that I had was £15 and it wasnt done that well and took hours and hours because it was cut by a trainee - funny I have never gone back to that salon.

For quite a few years I had a mobile hairdresser and I loved the way she did my hair. Also the price was reasonable and she was easy to talk to. However, she then moved into a salon and I followed. Of course, I now pay salon prices and am finding it difficult to afford at the moment. I have a cut, blowdry, a colour and a bleach put on and it costs between £60-£70 depending on whether I have a whole head or just roots done.

I used to hate going to hairdressers years ago and some salons have a really !!!!!y atmosphere with everyone talking about everyone else. You always got the feeling that you would be talked about the minute you left too!

However, at this particular salon they are all really nice people and I always get 2-3 cups of tea/coffee and at Christmas got a mince pie too! Ive had another mobile hairdresser recommended to me though and am thinking of trying her out because of the cost. Im just so reluctant to change.
  • I'm away at Uni at the moment, but whenever I'm home I always use "The Cutting Room" in Horsham, West Sussex...spent years trying to find a decent salon, but this place is fantastic...pay about £65 for a cut and colour and the stylist really takes the time to talk through what would work with my hair, etc. They also provide free drinks and the staff are always really friendly. The place just has such a good atmosphere!

At the moment, however, I'm in Aberdeen and have booked myself into the local college to have my hair coloured...bit worried about this, but it's cheap and about all I can afford at the moment!
  • I have had a few hair dos I have been unhappy with. 1) manager did it and was so busy chatting she kept grating the scissors against my neck as she cut cuasing me to go sore. then she didn't wash the leave in ocndiditoner out! I mioved somewhere else after this!
    2) they coloured my hair too red! Different salon but didn't return. Got the cut free though as was a trainee.
    3) Like where I am now......BUT to save £££ I get them to cut and colour it. Not fussed about the blow dry as go to the gym every other morning so seems a waste if I am not off out anywhere to get it dried!
  • My wife gets hers cut and highlights in and pays £45 I think is quite decent as it is a really professional cut!
  • I pay £45 for cut colour and blowdry and £5 tip. I'm never sure how much I should tip and who to tip as several people are involved so I give £5 in coins and say for those that helped. I still find the tipping bit really embarassing even though I'm 40 now. Anyone any tips on tipping?:D
