Book Costs when buying shares at different prices? Help!

Dear all,

I have search the site first but cannot find an answer to a question that is troubling me.

1. If I buy 100 shares at £1 each on day 1, and then buy 100 shares at £2 on day 2, is my book cost for the 200 shares in total £300?

2. If I sell 50 shares on day 3, what is my book cost relating to them? Is it:
a. £50 (ie first in first out)
b. £75 (ie. average of book cost)
c. £100 (ie. last in, first out)

I have searched everywhere and just cannot find an answer. Much appreciated to anyone who can help and maybe even point me to a webpage that has all these calc.

Many thanks!
