I too am looking for an accounts package to manage home finances. At the moment, I am still using Quicken 2000. With some technical help, I managed to load it onto Vista!
I'd love to be able to do that .. how?!

I also tried a more recent version of Quicken - useless.

I am devoted to Quicken 1998 particularly its ability to give you seemingly endless categories/sub/subsub/subsubsub etc.

So please how did you get it to work on Vista (I have 64 bit)

    Thanks,

    Mike

Have a look at Moneydance - there's a free trial, I believe - it will allow you the same sub/subsub/subsubsub business with categories. And it's similar enough to Quicken that it shouldn't take you long to get to grips with it. In fact I think it's more user-friendly than Quicken :-)

In the end, I manage to set it up by running it as administrator ... however, when I load it, I get a blank screen until I hit return, and even then, I have to take hit and miss potshots on the screen to view it all!

If you can get hold of Money 2002 off e-Bay give it a try. I've been using it since XP and can confirm itruns on Vista. I've just installed Win 7 64bit and it installs and runs fine on MS new OS just fine.
