Pre paid gas metre

Hi,
I just wanted to share my experience with others, you never know I might help someone. :rolleyes:
I moved out of my flat in November, which had a prepayment metre for gas and electric. I phoned Scottish Hydro with final readings for both as I was told to. Was shocked when a few weeks later I received a final gas bill for £50.20. I phoned Hydro and they said they were having problems getting readings from the metre to prove that we had topped up the gas card (which sounded stupid cos no money on card = no gas). They said they would put a hold on account til end of Jan. However, a couple of weeks later I got a final bill, overdue reminder. I phoned and again they said they were looking in to it and a hold was on the account. Today I received another overdue reminder and it threatened legal action. I phoned up and said that this has been going on long enough, I'm fed up of getting these reminders and nothing being sorted out and having this overdue note on my credit history. The lady on the phone was great and straight away said, don't worry, we'll write it off as there is obviously some kind of fault on the metre if it is taking this long. So we don't have to pay and the overdue note has been taken off my credit score :T
