British Gas

I am a duel fuel user with British Gas. I price fixed with them, till 2011, late last year because of prices going up. Today they send me in the mail a letter saying gas has gone down and I should fix it with them till 2011. My question is, can I do it, or am I bound by previous agreement? Thanks

  • I believe you will be bound by your previous agreement. The recent letter was probably sent by a dumb computer that hasn't been programmed to see you were already a fixed price customer.I think you can cancel your agreement but they do make a charge for this so you will have to work out whether you are better taking this into account against the savings made on a new agreement.
  • Thanks for the info

You need to check if your 2011 tariff is cheaper than the new reduced tariffs - I believe it might be cheaper.

Also if it is marginal, you have to take a view on price trends between now and 2011.
