Why are Alliance and Leicester so slow to clear

I did an electronic transfer on my A & L Account on the 28th Jan from my current account and on my bank statement is shows as going out on the 2nd Feb. I logged on today to the A & L site but this is not showing as pending yet. Is this OK. Is anyone else finding A & L to be very slow as another transfer I did on the 25th Jan is still only showing on the balance but not yet cleared. Help with clarification would be greatly appreciated by someone who is more conversent with online banking. I have printed every transaction and summary out as I am still a bit nervous about all this. Many thanks

Did transaction on 26th Jan, still showing as 'uncleared' in A&L account today. May be 'clear' on Monday but usually takes about 5 days :jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j0 -

Oh well at least I have printed everything out if there is a problem. I suppose it wont have left my current account till Monday, but I was just a bit concerned because it didnt show up as pending but will have to wait a bit longer. Thanks everyone for your quick replies0

For some reason hardly anything seems to show up as "pending"!
Best day to make transfers is Monday. They usually get cleared by Friday but it does depend on both banks. Some are faster than others. A & L recently sent me a list of those that do faster payments.
Their systems are a bit bizarre at times, as the cleared balance ( normally accurate) is ahead of the transactions and if not shown in the "pending", it can be a bit difficult keeping track of movements of money. To play safe I always print out a copy of what I've done.
To be fair, I have never had a problem in the end, but it can be annoying trying to keep track especially over a weekend.0 -
Newly retired, thank you so much for your post, I am less worried now. Yes indeed like I posted, I print every transaction and summary off so I have hard copy if things go wrong in the "cyber" ether.0
