Mid Quarter Bill Issued By EDF
I pay my gas bills quarterly to EDF and to me that means every 3 months or 13 weeks . I paid a bill for the period 30/09/08 to 30/12/08 recently
but as this was an estimated bill as the 3 before it
( 2/1-2/4,2/4-2/7,2/7-30/9) had been as well I phoned in a reading a
couple of weeks ago and have now got another bill for 30/12/08 to
28/01/09 which is almost as much as the previous one ( because this is now a real reading and both are in mid winter ) and they are expecting it
paid now. The website says next bill due 13/03/09.
To my mind the next payment should be 13 weeks/3 months after 30/12/08
but maybe they think they are doing me ( and them) a favour by sending
this interim bill .
Is it usual for energy companies to issue a further bill mid-period
just because you called in a true reading?
I've sent them an e-mail asking to go back on D.D.

Yes, why did you not provide a customer reading for the three previous estimated readings?
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Unfortunately this is standard practice - every time you send a corrected reading or a reading they will revise the last quarterly bill and send you a new bill from the beginning of the last quarter to the day of the reading (with any payments taken off.) Your next bill will then be three months from the reading.
It is annoying when you are only trying to correct estimates. It also causes inaccuracies when you send in the reading for the date of the bill but they take it as a reading a few weeks later at the time of submission.0 -
